Robert Holmes was born on December 8, 1938, in Timmonsville, SC to the late Roosevelt and Lula Holmes. He departed this life on Monday, January 21, 2019. Robert, loving known as “Tubby” was joined in Holy Matrimony to Roxy Daniels on October 4, 1957.

To this union, two children were born. He served in the US Navy for 20 years. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Roosevelt and Lula Holmes and his daughter, Gwendolyn V. Holmes.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Roxy Holmes, one caring and devoted son Robert (Brenda) Holmes of Conyers, GA, one devoted adopted daughter, Carol “Cookie” Planter of Florence, SC, two loving grandchildren, Honerae V. Holmes of the home and Rashad Holmes of Tuskegee, AL. , one great granddaughter, Destiny James, Florence, SC, three adopted grandchildren, DeMario Daniels, Durham, NC, Tamara Planter, Florence, SC, and Krystle Daniels, Durham, NC, four sister-in-laws, and two brother-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and three special friends Smiley Windham, Lawrence Elgeton, and Marion MC Kennedy.
