Obituary for Roger Douglas Honaker Roger Douglas Honaker, 82, of Rose Hill, VA, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Middlesboro ARH Hospital. He was bornin Pineville, KY on June 23, 1936 to the late Joseph Sterling Honaker and Henrietta S. Williamson LaDuke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Robert LaDuke, a brother-in-law, Earnest Hensley, and by four sisters-in-law, Maude Capps, Billie Stacy, Martha Moore and Ruth Martin.
Roger and his wife Lora spent over 50 years in Ohio where he worked as a printer for the Toledo Blade Newspaper where was a member of the Typographical Union. During their time in Ohio, Roger served in the Army National Guard. In 2001, Roger and Lora moved back to Lee County.
The most important thing in Roger’s life was his family. He loved spending time with them. Roger was also proud to be a past Master of the Damascus Collingwood Masonic Lodge as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
He was a member of McClure’s Chapel Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Laura Mae Hensley Honaker; daughter, Jennifer Lee Honaker; son, Lloyd Douglas Honaker; grandchildren, Erik, Emily and Angela Honaker, a granddaughter whom he considered a daughter, Jessica Cone (Brandon Boback), Janessa Lee Belville (Tracy Kuhn), Justin Belville (Jaclynn), Jamie Belville (Jeremy Hesselbein), Jordan and Jeremy Belville; great-grandchildren, Eli Parks, Wesson Hesselbein, Adelaide, Olsen, Elowyn and Izen Kuhn, Jade, Brooklynn and Molly Belville; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Robinette Funeral Home in Rose Hill.
The funeral service with Masonic Rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Norman Clark, Pastor Robert Howard and Rev. Tim Robinson officiating.
