Roger Eugene Stoeven, age 94, of Beecher, Illinois was called to his heavenly home July 4, 2018. Roger was born on December 17, 1923, in Grant Park, Illinois to Walter and Marie (Claus) Stoeven. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Louann and his grandson Clinton.

He is survived by their three children: Cary (Wendy) Stoeven of Park Ridge, Illinois, Peggy Stoeven of Beecher, Illinois, and Ann (Larry) Simpson of Merrillville, Indiana. Roger was beloved “Papa” to four grandchildren: Caryn (Jon Paul) Valadez, Andrea Cole, Derek (Leacia) Simpson and Amanda (Brandon) Neace, and four great grandchildren, Ashlie, Nathan, Lily and Jacob. Also surviving are two sisters Shirley (the late Harold) Scheiwe, and Ardith (the late Ronald) Schroeder, along with their families.

Roger was baptized on January 13, 1924, by Pastor Gurenther of St. Petersburg Church Grant Park Illinois, he was confirmed by Pastor William Schuetz of Zion Lutheran Church, Beecher, Illinois. On September 18, 1946, Roger married Louann Ashbaugh and they were married for 58 years. The two enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing cards, especially Schafkopf and Pinochle.

Roger enjoyed playing baseball and softball as a child and young man. He was able to play baseball/softball with his son, Cary, which he enjoyed tremendously. His life was devoted, not only to his family, but to the farm.

He raised Dairy cattle and Arabian horses. Roger was well known as the “Holstein Dairy Man”. He was a proud member of the Holstein Dairy Man Association and a Lifelong Member of the Will County Farm Bureau – Illinois Agricultural Association.

Being a farmer was who Roger was, he took pride in helping his fellow farmers in any way he could, not only during harvest, but throughout the years. Roger’s faith in his Lord and Savior was unbreakable and what gave him strength throughout out his life. He was an active member of both the Zion Lutheran School and Church.

Roger sat on the School Board as a Board Member and Chairman. He was a Member and Elder of the Church as well. Roger was the happiest and proudest when any of his kids attended church with him and celebrated the Lord.

Roger was a die-hard Cubs fan and got to see his beloved Cubs win the World Series in 2016. Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on July 7, 2018 at 11:00. Roger’s earthly remains will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Beecher, Illinois.
