Roland Mac M Cullough , June 12, 1936 — September 27, 2018

Roland “Mac” McCullough, passed away peacefully Thursday September 27th, 2018 in his home following an extended illness. Roland was born June 12th, 1936 in Sharon to Emerson and Sara (Rhodes) McCullough, the youngest of 11 children. Roland graduated from Hickory High School class of 1954.

As a young man he was active in the Boy Scouts and loved to hunt, fish, and camp which were activities he continued into adulthood. He served in the Unites States Army. Roland married his wife of 57 years, Margaret “Marge” Patrick on April 8th, 1961.

He worked at the former Sharon Steel Mill for 39 years in the Blooming Mill until Sharon Steel closed in 1991. He then worked as a manager at various local nursing homes and retired as the Director of Maintenance at John XXIII Home after ten years. Roland was a member of St. Bartholomew Church for 40 years where he was an active member of the men’s Holy Name Society and the Good Samaritan Repast Group.

He also served in many roles including fish fries, as an usher, RCIA, program dinners, and many other activities where he was known as “Mr. Fixit”. He will always be remembered helping those in need. He is survived by his wife Margaret “Marge” McCullough at home, son, Kevin McCullough, daughter Dr. Karen McCullough, grandson Kyle McCullough, twin brother Roger McCullough, older brother, Duane McCullough, many nieces and nephews, godparents, Rose Bruno and Paul Evakien.

Also surviving are two grand puppies, Madison and Joey whom he loved. Roland was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Wendel, Harold, Winnie, Dr. Jean Cubbison, Sally, Melvin, Donald, and Jessie. Friends may call Monday October 1st, 2018 from 9 am to 10:30 am at SHERMAN Funeral Home & Cremation Service 2201 Highland Rd.

Hermitage, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday October 1st, 2018 at 11:00 am in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Marc Stockton officiating and Father Matthew Strickenberger co-officiating. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sharon Regional Hospice 1955 Shenango Valley Freeway Hermitage, PA 16148, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105, or directly to the family for charity of their choice, in memory of Roland.

Entombment will take place in St. Rose Mausoleum. Arrangements entrusted to SHERMAN Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
