Ronald Pat Van Booven, 74, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on April 21, 1944, a son of the late Alphonso and Eleanor (Mayer) Van Booven. He was the husband of Brenda (Lackman) Van Booven.

They were united in marriage on July 17, 1965, at St. George Church in Hermann. Ronald worked in the Boeing Print Department in St. Louis, Missouri as a printer and purchaser for 36 years and was a part-time EMT for the Hermann Ambulance District until he retired in 2003. He also worked as a part-time Reserve Police Officer for the Hermann Police Department for several years.

After retirement he served terms on the City Boards and Commissions for the City of Hermann as Alderman Ward I, Mayor Pro Tem, Planning and Zoning, Board of Adjustment, Utility Advisory Board and Hermann Regional Economic Development. He was a member of the Church of the Risen Savior in Rhineland, where he was a past member of the Parish Counsel and Finance Committee. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Ronald, a non-veteran, was very proud of his Country and Veterans. He started the flag ceremony that is held at Firehouse No. 1 to honor the Veterans in 2010.

Since starting this ceremony 98 Veterans have been honored and Dave Faerber along with the City of Hermann will continue this ceremony for our Veterans. He is survived by his wife Brenda, of the home; his uncle Otto Mayer and wife Faye, of Rhineland, many cousins, nieces, nephews, special great nieces and nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Church of the Risen Savior in Rhineland. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Monsignor Greg Higley officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be given to Kindred Hospice and Hermann Hospital. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
