Mr. Ronald Rayford Sands, age 81, of Pilot Mountain, NC, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Mountain Valley Hospice. He was born on April 15, 1937 to Jim Odell Sands and Zonie Cox Sands. Mr. Sands served his country in the US army during the Korean conflict and after returning to the US he worked and retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company.

Mr. Sands is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Juanita Mikels Sands; his daughter Wanda Sue Sands Whittington and husband, Ricky Whittington; his brother, James Wilbert Sands and his late wife, Christine Moss Sands; his grandson, Ryan Douglas Whittington; and his granddaughter, Brooke Leann Whittington. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Odell Sands and his mother, Zonie Cox Sands. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church at 3:00PM with Rev.

Ron Chamblin and Pastor Dewayne Sands officiating. Military honors will be provided by Pilot Mountain VFW Post 2019 and Mount Airy VFW Post 9436. Interment will follow the funeral service at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 2:00PM to 3:00PM at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain (www.
