Ronald “Ribeye” Schmidt, 70, of Burlington, died at 9:11 PM Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born August 29, 1948, in Burlington, he was the son of Roy B. and Marguerite L. Bonar Schmidt. He was a 1966 graduate of Burlington High School.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, stationed in Germany from 1971 until 1977. He loved working on cars and also enjoyed collecting model cars. Survivors include one brother, Richard Schmidt of Burlington; one sister, Shirley (John) Schnedler Burlington; and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John, and one sister, Rosemary Olson. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory. Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, November 26, 2018 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Iowa Veterans Association.
