Viola Mae French, 90, lifelong Burlington resident, died Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Klein Center. Born May 31, 1928, she was the daughter of Harold and Gladys McCannon Wegener. Vi worked for Chittenden & Eastman for 38 years.

In retirement, she volunteered at Burlington Welcome Center and GRMC. She was an avid league bowler, a member of the Moose Lodge, and a passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan. Vi had an unmatched work ethic and never complained in the hardest of times.

She was the epitome of love, grace, and selflessness. Vi is survived by her children, Diane (Bruce) Beelman of Bismarck, ND, Angela (Greg Wagner) Manes of Columbus Junction, Kristina (John) Lenoch of Kansas City, MO, Karen Williams, Kevin (Pati) French, and Mark (Mary) French all of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild, Trevor French; her sister, Marilyn Cheely; and long-time companion, George Livermore.

Visitation will be January 4, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division Street, Burlington, Iowa, from noon until 7:00 PM with family present 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 5, 2019, at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jeff Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
