Roy Donahue, 82 of Herrin, passed away 8:40 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Roy worked for 43 years as a mechanic for Parson’s Oldsmobile in Herrin and retired from Pete’s Auto Service in Herrin. Roy was born March 5, 1936 in Ferges, IL to Clyde Lemuel and Mamie Mae (Phelps) Donahue.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Alice Donahue… Read More » of Herrin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joni and Jamey Cravens of West Frankfort, Lisa Timmons and fiancé, Darryl Newbolds of Marion; son, Mark Donahue and fiancé, Dawn Sullivan of rural Carbondale; six grandchildren, Aron Rester, Alisha Rester, Justin (Lea) Timmons, Nick (Jaimie) Timmons, Macey (Kyle) Rumsey and Tyler Donahue; six great grandchildren, Brendon Timmons, Breanna Timmons, Brantley Timmons, Ezden Timmons, MaKenna Timmons and Hartlan Rumsey; two sisters, Irene Sherrard of Herrin, Pearl Hickey of Missouri; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Karen Donahue and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Anthony Rester, Anson Scott Rester; two sisters, Mabel Lezu and Lilly Harvel; three brothers, Clyde “Bud” Donahue, George Robinson and Robert Burt.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
