Rudolph” Pop” Vaccaro of East Haven died peacefully on October 2, 2018 in Yale – St. Raphael Campus surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Florence Moosdorf Vaccaro. Pop was born in New Haven on April 16, 1924 to the late Gaetano and Anna Gallo Vaccaro.

He served his country with honor as a member of the US Army 1545 Bridgeway Division Engineering Corp serving under General Patton during WWII. After being honorably discharged he began a career as a machinist at Nizen’s Motor Parts. Pop enjoyed hunting, bowling and playing pinochle.

More than anything else he loved spending time with his family telling stories, enjoying a meal and being his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is the father of Susan (John) Ebersole, Paul (Vincenza), Ronald (Adriana DiCarlo) and Michael (Rosemarie) Vaccaro. Proud grandfather of Paul Vaccaro Jr., Nathaniel Hawes, Tom, Sarah, Juliana, Robin, Cassie and Michael Vaccaro and Ralph Savinelli.

Loving great grandfather to Riley, Noelle and Silas. Brother of the late Caroline Errato, Dominic, Ralph, Enrico and Vic Vaccaro. Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 4-8pm in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Pl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10am in St. Vincent dePaul Church 80 Taylor Ave. East Haven. Burial with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
