Sr. Clotilde Como, Apostle of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, died peacefully on November 28, 2018, at Sacred Heart Manor in Hamden, CT. She was 91 years old and professed 73 years in religious life. Sr. Clotilde, daughter of the late Joseph and Philomena (Chiaverini) Como was born in McKeesport, PA on June 5, 1927.

She entered the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on August 27, 1942 at Sacred Heart Provincialate on Greene St. New Haven, CT. She professed First Vows on August 23, 1945 and Perpetual Vows on August 23, 1951, in New Haven, CT. Sr. Clotilde earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Sociology from Fordham University in New York.

In her 73 years as a vowed Apostle of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, she ministered as teacher and principal in elementary schools in NY, PA. , and St. Anthony School in New Haven, CT. She served the Congregation as Novice Directress and General Councilor, and for 23 years ministered as residential supervisor for students at Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children in PA.

In 2010, Sr. Clotilde retired to Sacred Heart Manor. Sr. Clotilde was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Guy, John and William, and her sisters Victoria and Sr. Aloysius, ASCJ. She is survived by her sister Tillie Gricar, her nephew Joseph Gricar and her great niece Charisse (Matthew) Richards, great nephew Perry, and is lovingly remembered by many friends and her family of Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Visiting hours for Sr. Clotilde will be held at Sacred Heart Manor Chapel on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 4 to 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Manor Chapel, followed by burial at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven, CT. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sr. Clotilde Como to Sacred Heart Manor, 261 Benham Street, Hamden, CT 06514.
