Obituary for Carolyn Rieger Hosey Carolyn Rieger Hosey of Hamden died peacefully at home on December 27, 2018. She was born December 20, 1942 to the late Donald and Myrtle Murphy Rieger. Carolyn was the loving wife of 55 years to Patrick Hosey and the cherished mother of Colleen (John) Dacey, Pat Jr., Tara and Brendan (Jenn) Hosey.

She was Grammy to her beloved grandchildren Siobhan, Cathleen, Sean, Claire and Bridget. Carolyn was the dear sister of Donald (Sally) Rieger and the sister in law of John Hosey, Margaret Mulhall, Michael (Ann) Hosey, Irene Hosey, and Kathleen (John) Tully. She was predeceased by Nell Hosey, William Mulhall and Con Hosey.

She is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Carolyn was a graduate of North Haven High School and she was retired from the Development Office at Quinnipiac University. She was a long-time member of the New Haven Gaelic Football and Hurling Club where she formed many treasured friendships and was named Irish Woman of the Year in 1999.

Carolyn lived a full life surrounded by the love of her family and the devotion of her friends. She courageously faced every difficulty with strength and determination. She will be forever missed.

The family wishes to extend their thanks for the many cards, phone calls, meals, visits and prayers. They made all the difference in the world. Carolyn’s family will receive friends from 2 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave.

Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018 at St. Rita Church 1620 Whitney Ave. Hamden.
