Carmel Nuzzo, of East Haven passed away December 21, 2018 in Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved wife of 68 years of Michael A. Nuzzo Jr. Born in New Haven October 7, 1933 daughter of the late Giovanni and Rose Grande Santanello, Carmel was a long-time employee of C. Cowles & Co. and later worked for Mr. Donut in New Haven, then for Dunkin Donuts in North Branford. She was an avid football fan always cheering on her NY Giants.

Carmel enjoyed baking and cooking. Her greatest joy came from her family. She is the beloved mother of Deborah (Michael) Glennon and Michael (Pattie) Nuzzo III.

Sister of Virginia Iovanne, John “Sonny” Santanello, and the late Concetta Carlson, Genevieve Smith, and Grace, Charles, Joseph, and Frank Santanello. Loving Grammy of David (Kirstin) Franzman and Stephanie (Ricky) DiPaola. Visiting hours will be Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30 in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place in New Haven.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish (Our Lady of Pompeii Church 355 Foxon Rd. in East Haven) at 10. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
