Alber, 76, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, NJ. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, son of George W. and Elsa (nee Storz) Alber, Sr., he was raised in Union, NJ and became a resident of Readington in 1977. Russell began his career at City Federal Savings and worked there for 30 years.

He also worked as a courier employed by Dependable Courier and, more recently, the ShopRite Corporation. Russell loved a wide range of sports and enjoyed attending various sporting events. He especially loved coaching his daughters in sports and was very proud to root for his family’s teams.

He also enjoyed spending time with his large family. As in life, Russell generously gave in death as a Sharing Network donor. Besides his parents, Russell was predeceased by his beloved wife, Virginia (nee Boyle) Alber in 2009.

Russell leaves behind his loving daughters, Kimberly and her husband Jeff Wettlaufer of Budd Lake, NJ, Stacey and her husband Mark Mondello of Freehold, NJ, Kara and her husband Michael Jones of Chesterfield, VA, and Blair Alber and Peter Crossley of Jersey City, NJ. He also leaves behind his sister, Joan Wilhelms and brother, George W. Alber, Jr. Russell will be deeply missed by his six adored grandchildren; Ashley, Brandon and Adam Wettlaufer, Carter and Madison Mondello and Sawyer Jones. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Tuesday, May 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral liturgy will begin on Wednesday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ.

Disposition will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Russell’s memory may be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Center, 200 Trenton Road, Brown Mills, NJ 08015.
