Mrs. Ruth Boone Brown, age 82, of Old Fort, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Mission Hospital McDowell in Marion. Ruth was born in Marion on December 23, 1935 to the late Frank Boone and Tuie Bradburn Boone. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother and treasured the time she was able to be with her family.

Her gift for cooking will be well remembered by those fortunate enough to have been able to partake of it and it brought her great pleasure to see how it was appreciated. When she was able, she attended Eastside Baptist Church. Three brothers, Luke Phillip Boone, Frank Edward Boone, Jr., and Billy Edward Boone, preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Chris Brown. Ruth leaves behind her former husband, Billy Brown of Old Fort; two sons, Edward Lee Brown of Old Fort and Eric Brown and wife Tammy of Knoxville, TN; three brothers, Rev. Charles Boone and wife Sue of Shelby, Daniel Boone and wife Jan of Marion, and John Roger Boone of Asheville; two sisters, Virginia Carter White of High Point and Wilma Boone Davis and husband Haskell of Glenwood; four grandchildren, James Brown, Eddy Brown, Jr., Chaz Brown, and Cody Brown; five great-grandchildren, Adelynn and Keegan Brown and Patience, Renee and Alexis Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www. westmorelandfuneralhome.com.
