Obituary for Ruth Sims Ruth Fletcher Sims, age 83, of Barren Plains, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11am in the Bellwood Cemetery with Brother Paul Edwards officiating. Burial will follow with her grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Sims was born December 1, 1934 in Paris, Illinois to the late Forrest Edward and Flora Poynter Fletcher. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Paris, Illinois. In addition to her parents Mrs. Sims is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Robert Sims and her brothers, Charles Fletcher, George Fletcher and James Fletcher.

Mrs. Sims is survived by her sons, Thomas Sims and Timothy Sims, both of Springfield and Bradley Sims and wife, Shay, of Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Catherine Cooper and husband, Grant, of Springfield; brother, Larry Fletcher of Orient, Ohio; grandchildren, Glenda Burdge, Mac Edwards, Ashley Wilks, Rhett Sims and Keely Sims; and 9 great-grandchildren. Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
