Obituary for Ruth Talbert Ghoens Ruth Talbert Ghoens, 73, of Charlotte, died Sunday, June 17, 2018, at the Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mint Hill. Born on October 9, 1944, in Turkey Creek, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ollie and Lucille Brown Talbert. On January 7, 1963, she married Silas Fleming Ghoens, her husband of 55 years who now survives her.
In 1976, they came to Charlotte where Ruth was blessed to be a mother to the family they started. Ruth loved to cook, clean, shop, and listen to classic country music. When outside, she enjoyed yardwork and was an avid walker.
Most of all, Ruth loved the time spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Silas; four children: a son Stephen (wife Joanne) Fleming Ghoens of Mooresville, NC, and their daughters Rachel and Jessica, a son Stacy (wife Sandra) Farrell Ghoens of Mint Hill, NC, and their children Carden, Paris, Edward, Alanna, Bella, Farrah, Spencer, Maclin, and Nash, a son Sean Franklin Ghoens of Charlotte, and a daughter Stephanie (husband Chris) Gandy Murphy of Huntsville, AL, and their child, Patton. Ruth is further survived by her siblings Farrell, Frankie, Lester, Thomas and Ronnie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy. Ruth’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them. A service honoring the life, love and blessing of this wonderful woman will be led by Pastor John Harrill of Hickory Grove Baptist Church at 1 pm on Wednesday, June 20th, in the Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home Chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 am until the time of service. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill. Memorials in Ruth’s name would be greatly appreciated to the Cure PSP Organization at www.
