Ruth’s Obituary LEWISBURG, WV – Ruth Workman, age 93, went to be with the Lord in her sleep on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at her home in Lewisburg, WV. Born May 24, 1925, in Algoma, WV, she was the daughter of the late Christina and Ballard Morris. She was one of nine children, and of her siblings, she is survived by only one sister, Erma Severt; and one brother, Ballard (Loretta) Morris Jr

Mrs. Workman had very many titles: mother, wife, sister, mamaw, grandma, aunt, and friend. She was a faithful believer and follower and was a member of New Covenant Sanctuary in Fairlea, WV. She met the love of her life, Okey Franklin Workman, and they married on November 4, 1939.

They had four children and remained married until his passing in 2003; 64 years of unfailing love, trials, and memories. Ruth was retired from Midwest Industries of Willard, OH, providing 33 years of service. Upon her retirement, she spent her time making the best strawberry-rhubarb and chocolate pies and loving her grandbabies.

Additionally, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading the Bible, watching Little House on the Prairie, and driving her family crazy with love. Ruth resided the last six years of her wonderful life with her eldest child, Francine (Walter) Lockhart. She received additional care from friends, John Hampton Hoge and Ella Mae Keeney.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters Margie, Thelma, and Ethel; three brothers, Edgar, Howard, and Arthur; one son, Robert F. Workman; and one grandson, Jeffrey L. Workman. Survivors include two daughters, Francine (Walter) Lockhart of WV, and Victoria (David) Reed of PA; one son, Martin L. (Karen) Workman of NC; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Mark Workman officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. She will be buried next to the love of her life and her son at Pine Grove Memorial Gardens in Lindside, WV. Online guestbook can be signed or condolences may be sent to the family at www.
