Samuel Chester Brown, age 74 of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne. Born on April 1, 1944 in Lackey, KY, he was the son of Chester and Mary Anna (Howard) Brown.

Samuel was a proud United States Marine Veteran, having served two terms in the Vietnam War during 1964 to 1968. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart and he was an avid Veteran. Friends and family members will always remember Samuel wearing his USA and Marine clothing.

He was… Read More » a past member of The VFW in Spencerville, Ohio and a member of the EMA in Salem. Samuel enjoyed wood working and working on cars. He also enjoyed watching Westerns and CNN.

He was a friend to everyone always willing to help a stranger in need. He loved spending time with his family especially his kids and grandkids. Survivors include his wife Bonnie (Allsup) whom he married on December 18, 1971; daughters, Anne Brown, Teresa (Terry) Graham, Katrina “Tina” (Aaron) Smith all of Seymour; grandchildren, Mara Day, Codi (Luis) Mora-Utrera, Josh (Autumn) Crossman, Dustin (Kristian) Crossman, Samuel Crossman, Triston Graham and Travis (Amber) Graham; Eight great-grandchildren; Siblings, Claude Brown of Spencerville, OH, Clarinda “Randi” (Joe) Painter of Delphos, OH, Mary Ann “Peanut” Vermillion of Salem and Donald Brown of Salem; his mother in law Lola Allsup and several nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Chico.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, his father in law Frank Allsup SR. , his sister Elsie Margaret Moore; his sister in law Charlotte Brown; his brother in law Jack Moore; his grandson Trent Graham and great grandson Jaevyn Mora-Utrera; niece Jerri Moore and a nephew in law Brad Martz. Brien Stout will conduct services at 11:00am Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00pm until 7:00pm and then from 10:00am until service time on Thursday all at the funeral. Burial will follow services at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family request any contribution be given in memory of Samuel to help with final expenses.
