Kucera, age 58, passed away at her home in Ashland, Wisconsin on Saturday, December 29, 2018, surrounded by her family. Sandy was born on October 26, 1960, near Kansas City, to Harold and Ladora Christine (Hicks) Meyer. She graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1978.

Sandy grew up in Lake Lotawana, Missouri, She spent her childhood riding horses, swimming and water skiing. She loved visiting her grandmother who was always baking. Sandy was a remarkable student.

She graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in religion while pregnant with her son Michael and received her masters in education from Northern Colorado University. Sandy was a mother, writer, artist and teacher. She loved nature and found her paradise in Kauai.

She dreamt of publishing a children’s book. She was a beautiful woman with an even more beautiful soul. Anyone who met Sandy couldn’t help but to like her.

Her family will be celebrating her life in Oregon. Left to honor Sandy and remember her love are husband Brant, mother Ladora, sister Tane (Shannon), brother Jim (Lynne), daughters Krista (Artie), Laura and Emily, son Michael, and grandson Cameron. The Roberts Funeral Home in Ashland is assisting the family with arrangements.
