Fred’s Obituary Fred E Brown, age 93, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Northern Lights Health Care Center, in Washburn. He was born October 14, 1925, in Ashland, the son of Fred L. and Clytie (Johnson) Brown. In 1943, he graduated from Ondossagon High School.

He was in the US Navy and served during WWII. Fred married Bettie A Peters on July 23, 1949, in Ashland. From 1962 to 2013, he was the owner and operator of Brown and Young Motors, in Ashland.

Fred was the animal control warden in Ashland and Bayfield Counties, for over 20 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland. He loved animals and had a special way with them.

Fred was the President of the Animal League for many years. He is survived by his son, Scott (Pam) Brown, Ashland; three grandchildren, Jason Brown, Denver, CO, Jenna (Brett) Diersen, Plano, TX, and Shannon Kay, Waukesha; five great-grandchildren, Brody, Hudson, and Mila Diersen and Taylor and Lauren Kay; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bettie, on November 20, 2004; a son, David; a brother, Lawrence; and two sisters, Lorraine and Carrol.

Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Frost Home for Funerals and Ashland Crematory Service.
