Douglas’ Obituary Douglas Warren Dickrell, Sr., age 73, of Mason, WI passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Northern Lights Nursing Home in Washburn, WI. Doug was born August 21, 1945 in Ashland, WI, the son of Daniel and Mary (McCauley) Dickrell. He graduated from Ondossagon in 1963 and went on to vocational school for Machine Tool.

Doug was an avid basketball player and pool player. He was the “Larry Bird” of the north. Doug served in the U.S. Army for two years and was an active member of the American Legion Post 516 of Mason/Grand View.

He was employed as a cheese maker for the Moquah Cheese Factory for several years and then owned a bar, Doug’s Grand View Inn, until he retired in 2012. He enjoyed making cheese, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and socializing with his friends. He was a cheese connoisseur.

As a cheesemaker, he prided himself in fresh, squeaky cheese curds and 25-year-old cheddar (some of his favorites). Doug is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Elizabeth (Anderson) Dickrell; along with three children; Doug (Jen) Dickrell Jr. of Marengo, WI, Missy (Brad) Giesregen of Mason, WI, and Molly Dickrell of Ashland, WI. Doug is also survived by seven grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Heather, Emily and Faith Dickrell; Cole and Ben Giesregen; and Hunter Lemieux along with his siblings; Dan Dickrell, Vicki Packer, Cynthia Dickrell, Pat (Jean) Dickrell, and Mike (Jeri) Dickrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Mary Dickrell as well as a sister, Kathy Dickrell. A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 22, 2019 at Robert’s Funeral Home, 305 Chapple Avenue, Ashland, WI 54806 with a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception at Chopper’s Bar in Grand View, WI. The burial will be held at a later date at the Mason Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Roberts Funeral Home of Ashland, WI is assisting with arrangements.
