Norman’s Obituary Norman Ervin Glovsky, a long time resident of Ashland, Wisconsin, died March 16 at the age of 86 in Superior, WI. He was born July 2, 1932 in South Portland, Maine, the son of Benjamin A and Bessie (Yanovsky) Glovsky. He was a 1950 graduate of Portland High School and graduated from Syracuse University in 1954 with a degree in advertising design.

He served his country as a Korean War-era veteran in the U.S. Army, Psychological Warfare Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, from 1954 to 1956. He worked in advertising, merchandising display and for a time, was assistant display manager for Sears in Newark, New Jersey. On October 16, 1965, he married Lois Anne DeGroote in Union, NJ.

The couple moved to Ashland in 1972, where they owned and operated the Browzer Book and Art Shop for 10 years. He then worked for The Daily Press as typesetter, cartoonist, and columnist for 20 years, retiring in 2002. He was a freelance cartoonist and writer as well, and with son Jared, owned and operated Paradigm Press, publishing books of local authors and interest.

Later, he did reporting for The Lake Superior Sounder, which he said was one of his most fulfilling career moves. He is survived by two sons, Jared Glovsky, Eau Claire, and Jeff (Viviane) Glovsky, New York City, a grandson, Matthew Glovsky, Ashland and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois, sister Dorothy, and his parents.
