Clark, age 71, of Ashland, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN surrounded by his family. He was born on July 14, 1947, the son of Arnold and Evelyn (Johnson) Clark. Phil served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Vietnam.

He married Sandy Sobotka on January 15, 1971 in Ashland. Phil worked as a machinist at Ashland Industries for 40 years before retiring in 2012. He also served as the president of the local chapter of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union in Ashland for many years.

He enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles. He is survived by a son, Mike Clark – Denver, CO, a daughter, Michelle Vaughan – Ashland, 4 grandchildren, Phil (Caitlin), Dan, Brittny (Tyler) and McKayle (Jake), 2 great-granddaughters, Aubree and Rylee, a brother, Arnie (Debbie) Clark – Ashland, a sister, Lorie (Scott) Byrnes – Superior, many nieces and nephews, good friends, Diana (Carl) Schutte and his baby, Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandy on June 16, 2018, a sister, Darlene Traaholt and a brother, Mark Clark.

A United Chequamegon Bay Area Veterans service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Frost Home For Funerals in Ashland. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M., Friday at the funeral home. A celebration of life will begin at 4:00 P.M., Friday at the Neighborly Bar in Ashland.
