She will be missed by her whole family and close friends. She was born on May 23, 1981, the daughter of Mike and Karen Beneke of Iron River, WI, and Linda Miller of Ashland, WI.
Kristen has a daughter Ava Rosalyn Maria Sunie of Ashland, who was Kristen’s whole world and she will always be with Ava. Kristen graduated from Washburn High School in 1999 and attended WWTC in La Crosse, WI. She was an excellent photographer taking pictures for her brother’s wedding.
Kristen worked at Walt Disney World Resorts, a dream of hers since she was a kid, after graduating from college. After her time in Florida she returned to Ashland to be closer to family and friends where she held many jobs from bartender to furniture salesperson to hotel front desk clerk and photographer. Kristen was born in Marquette, MI.
and since lived in Kansas, Mississippi, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Florida, Minnesota, Colorado, South Dakota, and Montana. Having tons of adventures with her family and friends always documenting each memory with photos. Kristen ended her travels in Ashland living with her adopted (mother/grandma) Diane Cooley.
She always made time for family and friends whether it be talking on the phone with her brothers for hours or preparing a fun visit for all that where coming. Kristen loved being with friends and family. She was an excellent pool player and dart thrower, participating on many teams with her parents Mike & Karen Beneke.
Kristen is survived by her daughter Ava Rose, moms Karen Beneke and Linda Miller, grandmother Rosalyn Beneke, 3 siblings: Joseph (Krystal), Shannon, and Clinton (Becky) Beneke; 9 nieces and nephews, adopted family; Diane Cooley and Michelle Vaughan and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by father Michael, grandfathers William and Clinton, grandmother Anne, uncles Allan and Pat. A Celebration of Life and Potluck, will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 from 2-6 P.M., in the social hall of the United Presbyterian Congregational Church in Ashland.
People are welcome to bring a dish to pass for the potluck and everyone may enter the church through the Vaughn Avenue entrance. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Ava‘s future, which can be mailed to Clinton Beneke at 101 Apple Circle, Indianola, Iowa 50125. The Roberts Funeral Home in Ashland is handling the arrangements.
