Obituary for Santiaga “Chaga” Patiño Santiaga “Chaga” Patiño, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 here in Del Rio. She was born on July 25, 1930 in Sanderson, Texas. Chaga, as she was affectionately known, was the manager of Oaklawn Memorial Park/Del Rio Memorial Park for over 25 years (currently Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery) located on Highway 90.

She loved her family dearly and raised her grandchildren as her own. In her spare time, Chaga loved playing bingo, sewing and spending time with the family. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Donato “Nato” Patiño; mother, Seferina Arrebalo and daughter, Lydia Cardona.

Family members left to cherish her memory include her son, Donato Patiño Jr. and wife Octaviana Patiño; daughters: Anabelia Rose, Rosie Patiño, and Lisa Patiño; grandchildren: Yogi Lara, Augustine Lara, Barbie Lara, Erica Patiño, and Brenda Perez; great grandchildren: Daniel, Emett, Nikoli, and Emma; Chaga is also survived by many other family members. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Devotion. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Clay Hunt officiating.
