Sarah Nelson Holmes of Republic, MO formerly of Miami, OK passed from this life Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Republic Nursing and Rehab Center in Republic, MO. She was 91. Sarah was born June 27, 1927 in Fountain Inn, SC to Paul Alvin and Nita (Drummond) Nelson.

She graduated from Fountain Inn High School, North Greenville Junior College and Winthrop University. She moved to Miami in 1966 from South Carolina. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Miami, OK, United Daughters of the Confederacy, PEO.

After moving to Republic she joined the First United Methodist Church in Republic, MO. Sarah married Tom Holmes, June 12, 1949 in Fountain Inn, SC and he preceded her in death October 27, 2010. She was also preceded by her parents, her brothers Joe, Jared, Paul, Jr. and Larry Guy Nelson and her sisters Nancy Nelson and Mary Ann Williams.

Survivors include 2 sons, Jim Holmes and Keith Holmes both of Republic, MO, her brother and sister, Bill Nelson and Shirley Holland, 7 grandchildren, Blu, Gabe, Jake and his wife Crystal, Wesley, Jamie, Christa and Jennifer and 7 great grandchildren, Angela, Tatium, Blu, Jr., Kaleigh, Ryan, Ashleigh, Sawyer and Grayson. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Lanford Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday evening at the Gray Funeral Home.
