Scot E. Swinehart, age 53, of Upper Sandusky. Ohio, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 4:07pm at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky. Scot was born on November 1, 1964 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Melford E. and Martha Lou (Moyer) Swinehart, both of whom are deceased.

He married Michelle York on March 25, 1992 in Upper Sandusky and she survives. He is survived by his 5 brothers: Joe Swinehart of Upper Sandusky, Doug (Krista) Swinehart of Lima, Neil (Zorina) Swinehart of Forest, John (Sharon) Swinehart of Sunbury, and Jason Swinehart of Upper Sandusky, along with many special nieces and nephews. Scot was a 1983 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and worked for many years as a sales associate for Pfeifer Hardware in Upper Sandusky.

He was a member his entire life of the Emanuel United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky, where he was a former deacon in the church. Scot was on the Upper Sandusky City Council for 8 years, where he served on the Safety Committee. He also was a board member of the Wyandot County Historical Society, and had memberships with the Wyandot County Rod & Gun Club, Turkey Federation of Wyandot County, and Archeological Society of Ohio.

He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to hunt and fish, and searching for arrowheads. He had a passion for antiques and was very knowledgeable about them. Scot also was an avid Indians and OSU fan.

Scot appreciated living, working and serving the public in Upper Sandusky/Wyandot County. He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews, along with his special dog “Bear”. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life service for Scot Swinehart will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Emanuel United Church of Christ in rural Upper Sandusky, with Pastor Jay Scott officiating. Visitations will be Monday, July 16, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Emanuel U.C.C. and 1 hour before service time at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scot Swinehart Memorial Fund, or the Wyandot County Rod & Gun Club, or the Kidney Foundation and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave.
