Shane Fredrick Wright Our beloved husband, father, grandad, brother and son, Shane Fredrick Wright, 64, passed away peacefully in his wife’s arms at home in Fruit Heights, Utah on May 30, 2018. Shane was born May 24, 1954 in Salt Lake City, UT. He attended Hillview Elementary, Granite Park Junior High and Granite High School where he was a yell-leader, played football and wrestled, performed in school musicals, and sang in concert choir.
He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Arizona Holbrook Spanish speaking mission. He loved the people he served with and was fluent in Spanish the rest of his life. After his mission he served as a veil worker where his lifelong love of the temple took root.
He studied Business Management with an emphasis in accounting at Brigham Young University where he met Dee Dee Farnsworth his “Jewel”. On May 2, 1980 they were sealed in the Salt Lake City temple. Shane was an Executive at Orange-Sol, Inc. for twenty years and owned and operated S.F. Wright Stone Masonry.
He was a true craftsman with a keen eye for detail. Shane had an unsurpassed work ethic which he taught to each of their six children. This work ethic extended to his service in the Church where he magnified his callings.
He served as a Home Teacher, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Institute Teacher, Elders Quorum President, Young Men President, Scout Master, Stake Mission Leader, Stake Young Men President, High Counselor and Bishop. Shane and Dee Dee were ordinance workers, serving side by side in the Bountiful Temple, a place dear to them. Shane enjoyed the outdoors.
His hobbies included: hunting, fishing (Montana being his favorite), snow skiing, boating, water skiing, horseback riding and gardening. Shane loved music, playing the guitar, and had a beautiful singing voice. How can we forget his spontaneous “jig” in a moment of excitement or while listening to a favorite song?
He had a zest for life that was contagious and an eternal optimistic attitude; “everything will work out”. He was either working hard or playing hard. His fun-loving sense of humor drew people to him.
He could not see a need and not serve. He loved people and dedicated his life to the service of others. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deanna Lynn Farnsworth Wright and their six children, Aubree (Todd) Cahoon of Irvine, California; Shane Michael (Danica) Wright of Farmington, Utah; Brian (Kaitlyn) Wright of Gilbert, Arizona; Andrew (Erin) Wright of Canton, Michigan; Victoria Wright of Fruit Heights, Utah; and Shawn Wright of Fruit Heights, Utah.
Shane and Dee Dee have 9 beautiful grandchildren: Lily (10), Lorenzo (10), Ethan (8), Taft (5), Blakely (5), Phoenix (3), Nora (20 mos), Weston (18 mos) and Archer (18 mos) all of whom stole his heart and were showered with ice cream, sodas, and candy bars. He is preceded in death by his father, Cleo Mark Wright. He is survived by his mother, Arline Esther Mros Wright and siblings: Shelley, Markine, Scott, Shannon, Holly, and Shaun.
Shane left this life with an undeniable testimony of his Savior Jesus Christ. He knew because of Christ’s atonement and resurrection he would see his loved ones again. We say goodbye for now, but not forever.
