Sharon Elizabeth Franks, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at her residence in Urbana. Sharon was born May 5, 1943, in Urbana, to Robert Mehaffey Smith and Betty June (Brooks) Smith. She is survived by a son, Joshua Robert Franks, of Urbana; sister, Linda (Charles) Brown, of Covington, Indiana; niece, Christine Brown, of Fishers, Indiana; nephew, John Brown, of Williamsport, Indiana, and three great nieces and a great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father. After her graduation from Urbana High School, she began working at the Department of Aviation at the University of Illinois. After the birth of her son she became Administrative Secretary at the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois, retiring in 2003.

She was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs and the Fighting Illini. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, antiques and history. A family graveside service and inurnment will be held at a later date.
