ShawnTe’ Janel Pierce daughter of Doris Ann Burke-Bias and Gordon Vernon Pierce was born on May 21, 1977 in Elkton, Maryland. She departed this life on Friday, May 17, 2019 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. ShawnTe’ was raised in Elkton, Maryland, Chesapeake City, Maryland, Newark, Delaware.

She graduated on the Dean’s List from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor Of Science Degree in Fashion Design (minor in Business) on January 8, 2000. ShawnTe’ became a member of Victory in Praise Church in March of 2008 under Pastor Bernice Givens and was Baptized by Pastor Givens on August 24, 2008. ShawnTe’ was in charge of the prayer ministry and was a Sunday School Youth Teacher at Victory in Praise.

ShawnTe’ worked at JP Morgan as a Financial Analyst and was also a Freelance Writer. She wrote for the Examiner Newspaper and she also wrote for several blogs as a fashion and makeup consultant. Her favorite pastimes were writing poetry, listening to Gospel music, and reading the Word of God.

She truly had a great love for her family, her Pastor Reverend Givens, and her Father God and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her Maternal Great Grandmother Essie Ella Brooks, Maternal Grandparents – Donald and Essie Burke and Paternal Grandparents – Lawrence and Ida Pierce. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Doris Burke-Bias; her father Gordon Pierce; a step-mother, mom II, Alison Smith; One Brother, Hashim Pierce (Jennifer); 2 sisters, Ayasha Burgess (Shane) and Yalanda Gardner; 1 God Brother, Gary Burke II; a God Father, Victor Cruz; 2 God Mothers, Nancy Wheeler and Shirley Hill; a devoted friend Shameka Snow, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 9:30am, Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Elkton Presbyterian Church, 209 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921. There will be a viewing from 7:30pm to 9:15am only. Her Burial will be in Bohemia Manor Cemetery, Chesapeake City Road, Chesapeake City, Maryland.
