Shelby D. Calton, Jr. 49 of Coldiron passed from this life on January 18, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Shelby was born February 11, 1969 to Shelby D. Calton, Sr and Birdie Honeycutt Calton Hensley in Dearborn, MI. He was a coal miner and former employee of the Harlan ARH.

He was an avid UK Wildcat fan and enjoyed watching the cats play basketball and football. He loved spending time on the lake, fishing and just relaxing. He is preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandparents, Frank & Loretta Miller, and Robert Calton; his maternal grandparents, Ruth and Marian Honeycutt; a brother, Moss Hensley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sherri White Calton; son, Jordan Lee (Merrandia) Calton; grandson, Samuel Asher Calton, the bright spot of his day; mother, Birdie (Chuck) Hensley; brother, David (Francis) Calton; sisters, Francis (Brandon) Calton, Melissa (James) Brock, , Angie (Millard) Smith, Krista (Derrick) Gross, and Lorinda (Ron) Posey; special uncle, Millard Honeycutt; special friends, Janet and T.L. Crabtree; his friends at the Harlan VFW Post 1178; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends to mourn his passing. Visitation will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday (Jan. 21) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Freeman Clark, Bro. Tommy Vanatter, and Curt Hall officiating.

Graveside services will be 12:00 pm, Tuesday (Jan. 22) at the Park Howard Cemetery in Wallins. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11:30 to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Calton, Brian Owens, Tanner Smith, Bobby Owens, Brian Maas, and James Honeycutt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Curt Hall, John Mink, Ron Posey, T.L.
