Obituary for SHIRLEY DUNSTAN (Polkinghorne) Shirley A. Dunstan, 90, of Carlson Rd. , Negaunee, passed away Monday evening, October 15, 2018 at her home following a lengthy illness. Shirley was born July 4, 1928 in Negaunee to Elisha and Minnie (Webb) Polkinghorne, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1946 and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a devoted wife and mother and was a wonderful homemaker. Mrs. Dunstan was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Negaunee and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved to cook and bake and was well known for the wonderful food she made.

She often provided food for fundraisers and special events and also volunteered her services working many of those events. Surviving are her son, David (Lynn DeLoughary) Dunstan of Negaunee; grandchildren, Gary (Tina McCorkle) Dunstan, Jr. and Alisha (Brian) Young; three grandchildren: Bryce and Brayden Dunstan and Tempe Young; a beloved sister, Marjorie Harper; daughter-in-law, Carol Dunstan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by husband, Arthur Dunstan; a son, Gary Dunstan, Sr.; eight brothers and seven sisters.

Honoring Shirley’s wishes, private graveside services will be held at the Negaunee Cemetery. The family would like to thank Debbie Filizetti, Shirley Koski and Victoria Sowle for their wonderful caregiving to Shirley during her long illness. They would also like to thank Dr. Michael Grossman and the medical and care staff of UP Home Health and Hospice.
