Shirley’s Obituary Shirley J. Schade, age 75, of Mechanicsburg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at her home. Born June 4, 1943 in Gratz, PA she was a daughter of the late Emerson D. and Gertie (Erdman) Maurer. Shirley was a graduate of Upper Dauphin Area High School Class of 1961.

She retired with over 20 years of dedicated service as an Obstetric Technician with Holy Spirit Hospital. Shirley was a life member of Simeon Lutheran Church in Gratz and a member of West Shore Free Church in Mechanicsburg where she helped with Bible study and youth groups and traveled to the Alaskan Missions. Shirley enjoyed needlework, reading mystery and self-help books, gardening and traveling, especially on her trips through Europe and Alaska.

Shirley is survived by her four children Deborah J. Stine and husband Jeffrey of Martinsburg, WV, Cathy S. King and husband Victor “Butch” of Etters; James A. Schade and wife Robin of Myrtle Beach, SC and David L. Schade and wife Jen of New Cumberland; two brothers Raymond Maurer of Harrisburg, and Dennis Maurer of Florida; 6 grandchildren Michael King, Matt Stine, Zack and Nick Schade, Alicia Fisher and Dustin Beck as well as 3 great grandchildren Draven Beck, Jay Fisher and Dylan King. Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers John and Marvin Maurer. Memorial services will be 12:00 PM Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, 1934 S. York St., Mechanicsburg with visitation held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Interment will take place at Gratz Union (Simeon Lutheran Church) Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4250 Crums Mill Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
