Shirley’s Obituary Shirley Rae Bynum, 72, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 in Lufkin, Texas. Shirley was born in Henderson, Texas on July 31, 1946 to Ray Wylie and Earline Beall Wylie. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree and worked as a teacher and retired from C. O. Wilson Jr. High School in Nederland, Texas.

She loved to travel and cook and she especially loved her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jim Bynum of Hemphill, Texas; son, David Bynum and wife Kathleen, of The Woodlands, Texas; sister, Sandra Holmes of Texarkana, Texas; nephew, Adam Holmes of Fayetteville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Joseph Bynum and Brennan Bynum of The Woodlands, Texas; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in First United Methodist Church of Hemphill, Texas with Rev. Michael Cadwell officiating. Online condolences can be made at starrfuneralhome.com.
