Opal’s Obituary Opal Lorene Ellender, 71, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Hospice in the Pines in Lufkin, Texas. Opal was born July 30, 1947 in Galena Park, Texas to William Gordon Grissom and Hazel Lorene Kuhin Grissom. She was a loving housewife and mother.

Opal and her family moved to Hemphill in 1975 and she was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Many, Louisiana and also a member of the Eastern Star. She loved to go fishing with her husband. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Ellender of Hemphill, Texas; daughters, Kim Towler and husband, Jerry, of Crosby, Texas, Jeanie Cox and husband, Jeff, of Hemphill, Texas, Christy Wright and husband, Barry, of Pineland, Texas, and Wanda Dickerson of Hemphill, Texas; brother, Stanley Grissom and wife, Brenda, of Madisonville, Texas; sisters, Joyce Cheatam of Baytown, Texas and Nora Caufield and husband, Troy, of Crosby, Texas; grandchildren, Nicole Herrington and husband, Carl, Reese Towler, Phillip Cox and Shelby, Lisa Marie Bynum and husband, Paul, Barry Wright and wife, Jessica, Jacob Doughty and Haley, and Brandon Ellender and Chelsie; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gordon Grissom. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Starr Funeral Home of Hemphill, Texas. Online condolences can be made at www.
