Shirley Ann Cornish Henderson, 83, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on February 6, 1935 in Rochester, New York to the late Frederick D. Cornish and Ida Spahn Cornish. She was a History teacher at Mercy High School and was of the Catholic faith.

Shirley was active in the Help Office, Owensboro Museum, Women’s Club and was a supporter of St. Anthony and Blessed Mother Churches. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Winter. Survivors include her husband, Howard J. Henderson, Jr.; her children, Gerald Sass, Jr. (Susan), L. Richard Sass (Margaret), Howard J. Henderson, III (Deborah), Carol Kazmierczak, Benjamin C. Henderson (Melissa), Matthew A. Henderson and Jill Ewanow (Mark); multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren , nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 261 Saint Anthony Road, Utica, KY. Burial will be at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery in Jordan, NY. .
