He was born in Davidson County, September 23, 1946 to James Gudger Clark and Mattie Smith Clark. He was the retired owner of Clark’s Garage.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 8 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his wife Marie Tysinger Clark , his son William Matthew Clark both of the home. His daughter, Shannon Marie Hobbs (Daniel) and his grandsons Jacob and Nathaniel of Lexington , brother Herbert Clark of Lexington, and sister Cleo Hutchins of Winston Salem.
