Funeral services for Stanley Gene Langenberg, 87, of Hoskins will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2018, at Norfolk Restoration Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ, Norfolk. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk. Military rights will be by American Legion Post 16, VFW Post 1644 and the US Navy Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 at the church prior to the service. Home for Funerals, is in charge of arrangements. Stan died Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Nebraska Medicine, Omaha.

Stan was born April 25, 1931, to George and Frances (Fletcher) Langenberg Sr, in Hoskins, NE. Stan grew up at Hoskins and graduated from Hoskins High School in 1948. He attended Norfolk Junior College for 1 year.

Stan then enlisted in the United States Navy and served from June 25, 1951 to June 17, 1955, serving on the submarine USS Tang. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, stan returned to Hoskins to farm. On June 9, 1957, Stan married Virginia Mapes in Clearwater.

They made their home near Hoskins. Stan served on the Hoskins School Board and was also president. Stan was also president of the Hoskins Volunteer Fire Department where he served for many years.

He was an avid Husker fan but most of all he was one heck of a dad. The family asks, if attending the service, please write down a favorite memory of Stan and bring it along. There’s still time to send flowers to the Visitation at the Norfolk Restoration Branch of The church of Jesus Christ from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on November 30, 2018.
