Stanley R Piesetzkie , January 01, 1947 — June 01, 2018

Stanley R. Piesetzkie, age 71, died on Friday, June 1, 2018 at his home in Jeannette. He was born January 1, 1947, at Greensburg Hospital, to the late Stanley and Christine (Misko) Piesetzkie of Jeannette. Perhaps the best way to remember Stan is to recount the things he loved most.

He loved to work on projects, either at home or at work. When asked what he liked most about his 39-year-long tenure as a Machine Repairman at the Elliott Company, he would say “I work on a different problem every day”. At home those problems or projects ranged from refinishing woodwork to turning his Pontiac Vibe into a hybrid vehicle that ran on the water collected in his basement dehumidifier (he was a thrifty man).

The projects that took him outside during the hot summer were probably his favorites. “The hotter, the better,” he would say. He loved and took care of his mother, visiting her nearly every day during the last years of her life.

He loved his grandchildren, slipping easily into the role of “Pappy”, owner of the bubble machine. And he loved his pigeons. To call pigeon racing-first introduced to Stan by his father nearly sixty years ago-his hobby does not appropriately express his relationship to the sport.

It was his passion. A U.S. Army veteran, Stan proudly served in Korea during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Frances; son, Vince (Andrea); daughter, Jennifer Moore (William); 3 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virgina Kaczmerak; and nephews, Corey and Caden Kaczmerak; and sister, Nancy Hoenshell.
