Stephen Paul Vernon, 64, of Jonesville, VA, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Stephen was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. As a child, he had dreamed of driving a truck.

He later made a career as a truck driver, which he loved, along with farming. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alpha (Tarter) Vernon. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dorothy Harville Vernon; one daughter, Molly Abston and husband Danny; two grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, Mackenzie and Abigail Abston; two sisters, Cheryle Turner and husband Joe and Karen Ray and husband Steve; one niece, Stephanie Butcher and one nephew, John Ray.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Robinette Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Mike Carver officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA.
