Sterling “Buzz” A. Shipley, III, 69, of Frederick, MD, formerly of Naples, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, May 4, 2018 in Frederick. Born on April 7, 1949 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Sterling A. Shipley, Jr. and Dorothy E. (Clingan) Shipley. He was the loving and devoted husband of 41 years to Patricia (Yingling) Shipley.

Buzz was a graduate of Westminster High School class of 1968, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War from 1971-73. Buzz had a successful professional life in sales, because first and foremost he was a people person. His passion was his family and friends.

He was also an avid golfer and sports fan, and Baltimore Ravens season ticket holder. He was of the Catholic faith, long-time member of the Mt. Airy American Legion, and member of the Golf Club of the Everglades in Naples, FL.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Stephanie Louise Shipley of Frederick; son, Patrick “Rick” Sterling Shipley and wife Rachel Pezzetta Shipley of Frederick; grandchildren, Jacoby Richard Manns, Georgia Louise Shipley, Zoe Grace Shipley-Erroa, and Lucy June Shipley; sisters, JoAnn S. Tyler of Berlin, and Mary E. Klinger and Samuel Ayres of Kill Devil Hills, NC; brother, Vincent D. Shipley of Berlin, MD; and many loving nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Burial will be private at a later date.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 8th from 5-8 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St, Westminster, MD, and on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Rd. , S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047 (LBDA.org).
