Steve Fite, December 24, 1966 — July 27, 2018

Obituary for Mr. Steve Fite Stephen Bryan Fite was born December 24, 1966 in Dallas, Texas and passed away from lung cancer at his home in Kilgore, Texas July 27, 2018 at the age of 51. As a young child, the family moved from Dallas to Carrolton. When living in the metroplex, Steve spent many weekends at the lake boating and fishing with his parents.

After the family purchased a farm in Peerless, their spare time was spent on the farm. In 1981 the family moved their residence and farm to Upshur County. They located in the Simpsonville community in the northwestern part of the county where Steve attended and graduated from Union Hill High School.

Soon afterward graduation, he started training in the produce department of Tom Thumb/Page in Longview and then transferred to the meat department and became a journeyman butcher. He went on to become the market manager at Albertsons in Longview, and resided in Longview and Gladewater, worked at Super 1 in Tyler, then ran the meat market at Food Land in Liberty City and ended his career back at Albertsons in Longview. Steve and his family resided in Kilgore the last 12 year of his life.

Steve loved to fish, and he kept and cleaned all that were large enough. He took them home fried up more than he and his family could eat and put the rest in the freezer. He is survived by his parents, Paul and Sandra Fite; daughter, Bree Anne Fite of Gilmer; her mother Tina Marie Lozano; three step children, Alexander Elkins, Damian Cooley of Kilgore, and Ashlee Elkins of Hutchinson, Kansas.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 29th at 2:00 p.m. at McWhorter Funeral Home one hour prior to the services at 3:00 p.m. Officiating will be the reverend Tim Ruland. Interment will be in the Simpsonville cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Life Care Hospice of Longview for their loving care.
