Susan Louise Thompson, age 73, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 23, 2019, in the home she shared with her husband, Bobby Thompson. Sue was born in Los Angeles, California on June 20, 1945 to Davis and Edna Pennington. She accepted the Lord at age 30, and has faithfully followed Him ever since, leading many to faith in Christ as well.
Sue loved to share her life through her crafts and she opened her home each week for over 10 years to craft and fellowship with friends. She and Bob loved to backpack the Appalachian Trail, Mount San Jacinto, and The Resurrection Trail in Alaska. She also loved to ride bikes with her family, and at the age of 70, rode 46 miles round trip to the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse from New Smyrna Beach, FL.
She was an amazing lady and touched many with her genuine and sincere heart. She viewed this life as a gift, and the time since her diagnosis, was no different. She often times cried tears of joy at how good God is, even in this cancer story.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Bobby J. Thompson, brother Jon (Candace) Pennington of West Chester, PA; two daughters Stacy (Mark) Staggs of Blair, OK; Sheri (Brian) McAvoy of Unicoi, TN; Two step sons, Bobby R. Thompson of Ardmore, OK and Tommy (Leesa) Thompson of Argyle, TX. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren; Bobby Thompson Jr., Jimmy Thompson (deceased), Kylee (Eric) Crawford, Karina McAvoy, Bailey (Kyle) Longhofer, Ashley Thompson, Kelsey McAvoy, Austin Thompson, Makenna (Chase) Castillo, and Matthew Thompson. She also has 8 great grandchildren with 3 on the way, as well as 2 nephews and a niece that she loved dearly.
