Sally Strickland, age 79, of Erwin, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Sebring, OH, Sally is a daughter of the late Robert Earl Court and Dorothy Louise (Froshey) Dickson. She previously worked at Goober’s Restaurant and Industrial Garment/Red Cap and is a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church, having joined in 1982.

Sally dearly loved her grandchildren. She was considered the World’s Greatest Mom by her children. She enjoyed reading, working on her IPad and working crossword puzzles.

Sally always had a smile on her face. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: her brother, Robert “Ed’ Court; sister, Kay Ann “Sissy” Court; father of her children, Robert “Bob” Strickland; son, Randy Strickland; grandson, Randy Foster; granddaughter, Sandie Foster Baucom; and son-in-law, John Hensley. Sally Strickland leaves behind to cherish her memory: Sister: Kathy Ford and husband, John, of Erwin Sons: Tim Strickland and wife, Tracy, of Maryville, Steve Strickland and wife, Tonya, of Friendsville; Daughters: Lori Franklin and husband, Alan, of Erwin, Judy Hensley, of Kingsport, Donna Foster and husband, Marshall, of Erwin; Grandchildren: Annie Fishbaugh, of Jonesborough, Joe and Glenn Foster, of Erwin, Heather Davidson, of Kingsport, Gregory and Whitlee Franklin, of Erwin, Tianna Kelley and husband, Mark, of Louisville, Tabitha and Stephan Strickland, of Friendsville, Tyler, Makayla and Peyton Strickland, of Maryville, Christina Wininger and husband, Michael, of Kingsport; Several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the nursing staff at Johnson City Medical Center for their loving care during this difficult time. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Sally Strickland in a funeral service to be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. Reverend Noah Taylor will officiate.

A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2019 and will continue until service time at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. A committal service will be held in Martin Creek Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 8, 2019. Doctor Scott Linginfelter will officiate.

Those attending the committal service will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:15 AM to go in procession. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Eddie Court, Terry Court, Jimmy Padgett, David True, Joe Foster, Gregory Franklin, Dakota Foster and Tyler Strickland. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Anders and Glenn Foster.
