Obituary for Susanna H Power Power, Susanna H, age 93, resident of St Leonard’s Retirement Community in Centerville, was called to her eternal rest on Sunday, July 22nd, 2018. She was born in Vernon Center, NY on October 23, 1924, the daughter of the late Susanna and William Houck. Susanna was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles E “Chuck” Power, brother John, sisters Marion and Helen, sister-n-law Millie Houck, and brother-n-law Ted Willson all of Vernon, NY.
She is survived by 18 nieces and nephews, 46 great-nieces and nephews, 7 great-great-nieces and nephews, a very special cousin Anita Fehr, and many friends and distant relatives. Susanna was an active member of St Francis of Assisi Parish serving in many different ministries. She began the Bereavement and Centering Prayer Ministries that were the joy of her heart.
She was also a member of the Sisters of St Francis of Syracuse, NY for many years. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from St Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, secured her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Education at Catholic University of America, and followed with her Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration at St. Louis University. Susanna served in various capacities and many different fields during her nursing career including medical-surgical, neurological, obstetrics, and pediatrics.
Her last two positions were Director of Nursing Services at St George Hospital in Cincinnati and Instructor in Nursing at Miami University. You are invited to share in Susanna’s Life Celebration Visitation at St Francis of Assisi, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville on Wednesday July 25th from 9:30 am – 10:30 am with her Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420 in gratitude for their wonderful care, or St Francis of Assisi Parish, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, OH 45459.
