Mrs. Sybil Padgett, age 83, of Old Fort, passed away peacefully at the Hospice House of Rutherford County on Tuesday May 1, 2018 with her loving children Tim and Karen by her side. Sybil was born in McDowell County on August 1, 1934, daughter to the late Ethel and James Robinson. She loved and cherished her family deeply, as they were most important to her, including her cat Rocky.

Sybil appreciated music, and absolutely loved to cook and clean. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of almost 54 years Edgar Padgett. She also had a infant daughter Linda Ann Padgett who preceded her in death.

Sybil leaves behind four children, Tim Padgett of Old Fort, Karen Padgett Hensley, and husband Garry of Old Fort, Debra Padgett Guffey and husband Donald of South Carolina, and Sharon Hensley of Candler, NC; two brothers, James H. Robinson and Wife Norma of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and William E. “Bill” Robinson and wife Elsie of Old Fort; five grandchildren, Matt Harklerode, Brandon Hensley and wife Dana, Justin Cannon, Jordan Shew, and Jacob Hensley; six great grandchildren, Alex Harklerode, Aubrey Hensley, Chesney Hensley, Easton Hensley, Hudson Shew, and Benjamin Shew; and a dear friend, Olivia Broody and Husband Jim of Saluda, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 5, 2018 between the hours of 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home of Marion. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Chaplain Cy Miller officiating.

Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. Tim and Karen want to express their heartfelt appreciation to Rose Hill of Marion, and to the Hospice House of Rutherford County for the loving care given to their mother. Flowers are accepted and appreciated, but the family asks anyone wanting to make donations they be made to the Hospice House of Rutherford at P.O Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043, and to Brother Wolf at 31 Glendale Ave, Asheville, NC 28803.
