Obituary for Thomas Steven Bacurin Thomas Steven Bacurin passed away in his home surrounded by family on Friday, December 21st, 2018 at the age of 61 due to cancer. Tom was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 19, 1957 to the late John Joseph Bacurin and Kathleen (McGuire) Bacurin. Tom grew up in Lawrenceburg, TN and graduated from Lawrence County High School.

In 1988, he and his family moved to Evansville, IN where he lived since then, except for briefly moving to Hopkinsville, KY in 1991. For years Tom worked as a manager in the trucking industry until later he opened his own home inspection business. He was also active at Good Shepherd Catholic Church where he volunteered at bingo, sang in the choir, and was an RCIA sponsor.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Kathy Bacurin, his three children, Lindsay, Carly, and Samuel, his son-in-law, Haider Al-Turaihi, Shari Bacurin, his siblings, Linda Johnson (Bob), Kathy Woelfel (Tom), and John Bacurin (Melinda), and by cousins, nephews, and nieces. From a young age, Tom enjoyed cooking and experimenting with cuisines from other countries. He made an excellent egg roll, egg foo young, and rigatoni carbonara.

He also enjoyed playing his guitar, especially the music of Neil Young and James Taylor. Tom was always interested in his family tree and after years of searching, finally reconnected online with his father’s remaining family in Croatia. In 2016, he travelled to Europe with his daughter, met his Croatian relatives, and explored Croatia and Slovenia.

Since he was a boy, Tom was interested in working on and fixing electrical and mechanical objects. He was always an early adopter of new technology and had a personal computer in the early 80s and a mobile phone in the early 90s. Tom was an animal lover, particularly of cats, and since the early 1980s always had at least one pet cat.

In his final days, he was comforted by his two cats, Buddy and Squeaky. Visitation will be from 4pm-7pm Thursday December 27, 2018 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave. , Evansville.
