Thomas “Tommy” Sluder Jr., age 71, of Marion, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 at his home with his loving mother by his side. A native of Marion, Tommy was born on October 4, 1946 to Idana Sluder and the late Homer Sluder Sr He loved country music, and had a passion for playing instruments, especially the drums.

He treasured his time playing in a local band by the name of the Delshey’s. Tommy also enjoyed playing trivia, as well as Rook with his mother. He especially loved his bulldog, Jipp, who will be lonely without Tommy by his side.

Surviving is his beloved mother Idana Sluder, who will miss him dearly. There will be a visitation held in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A graveside service with Military Honors provided by the North Carolina National Guard will follow the visitation at McDowell Memorial Park with long time friend Danny Deaton officiating.
