Mr. Benny Ledbetter, age 79, of Old Fort, passed away Monday, May 07, 2018 at Mountain Ridge Health & Rehab with his loving wife Nancy and daughter Kathy. Born in McDowell County on April 4, 1939 to the late Ed Ledbetter and Martha Murphy Ledbetter. Benny was the last of 12 brothers and sisters who he cherished.

Benny will be remembered by his family as a devoted family man, who loved his family, especially his wife and daughter. He loved being outdoors, hiking and traveling. Benny also had a passion working with wood, which inspired him during his mid-twenties to start his own business “Ledbetter Sawmill”, which he owned and operated for over 50 years.

Benny was a great man, who would help anyone that needed it, and he will be greatly missed. Benny leaves behind his wife of over 57 years, Nancy Ledbetter; and his daughter, Kathy Ledbetter of the home; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 10, 2018 between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Old Fort.

Funeral services will be in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home of Old Fort at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018 with Rev Kenneth Massengill, Dr. Larry Rosenberg, and Mr. Toney Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Community Cemetery. Nancy and Kathy wish to extend their gratitude to Larry & Kathy Rosenberg, Ronnie “Hurricane” & Denise Jackson, Toney & Dawn Brown, and Ernest Barlowe.
